HE Khöndung Gyana Vajra Rinpoche

HH Sakya Trizin's youngest son, was born on July 5, 1979 in Dehra Dun, Uttarpradesh, India. During his childhood, together with his elder brother, HE Khöndung Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, His Eminence studied religious texts, reading, writing, grammar, memorization of important prayers and rituals under the supervision of Ven. Rinchen Sangpo.

SE then began his studies at Sakya Center, the most important monastery and the seat of HH Sakya Trizin, where he learned all the basic rituals and prayers. After completing his studies at Sakya Center he began at Sakya College developing his studies in Buddhist philosophy for the next 5 years. During this time, he often participated in the religious ceremonies that are carried out annually at Sakya Center. He has also received many major initiations, common and uncommon teachings from HH Sakya Trizin.

In all, he has received decades of rigorous training from HH Sakya Trizin himself, as well as from many other lamas such as SE Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, SE Luding Khen Rinpoche, Khenpo Appey Rinpoche, and Khenpo Migmar Rinpoche. SE accompanied HH Sakya Trizin on many of his teaching tours in India and abroad, and recently left his life as a monk and married Dagmo Sonam Palkyi on 21 April 2008 and they now have 2 children.
